Ill upon inserting lives which the booksellers opposed;and this interference put a stop to a most valuablecollection of the poets by two distinguished poetsâ€"a loss never to be repaired. The men of trade inconsequence applied to a hack to bring out anedition for £300, which gave rise to the publicationof the Specimens of the British Poets thirteen yearsafterwards by Campbell alone. In 1805 a collec-tion of Irish melodies was projected by him, whichwent no further in his hands, but was afterwardsnobly carried out by Moore.
